Naturopathic Medicine

“Now more than ever, naturopathic doctors are poised to play a significant role in addressing some of the critical issues facing our health care system in Ontario, including the shortage of family physicians.”

The primary goal of naturopathic treatment is to address the cause of illness, rather than simply treatment or suppression of symptoms. Focusing on prevention and the use of natural substances and treatments, naturopathic doctors (NDs) stimulate the body’s ability to heal itself. Dr. Upcott views her role as a teacher as important as her role as a doctor.

Combining modern science and traditional healing practices, Dr. Upcott uses a combination of nutrition, herbs, homeopathy, acupuncture and lifestyle counseling. Unlike in traditional medicine, the patient is seen as a whole person. The Naturopathic Doctor takes physical, mental and emotional dimensions into account when diagnosing and developing a treatment plan. After an extensive health history, each patient receives an individualized treatment plan.
